A low-dose compounded oral minoxidil prescribed off-label for hair loss in women, typically used when 0.25 mg is insufficient.
How it works: Increases blood flow to hair follicles, extending the growth phase and promoting regrowth.
How to take it: One capsule by mouth daily at the same time each day.
What to expect:
- Temporary shedding is normal in the first 4–8 weeks
- Visible regrowth typically takes 4–6 months
- Results are maintained only while continuing the medication
Side effects (usually mild): Some facial hair growth (relatively uncommon at 0.5 mg), mild fluid retention, dizziness when standing quickly.
Not for use during pregnancy or if trying to conceive.
