A low-dose oral estrogen tablet used in MHT to relieve symptoms caused by declining estrogen.
Treats: Mild to moderate hot flashes and night sweats, mood changes, brain fog, sleep disruption, bone density loss, and vaginal dryness (though topical vaginal estrogen is more effective for local symptoms).
How to take it: One tablet by mouth daily, at the same time each day. Can be taken with or without food.
Important:
- If you still have a uterus, progesterone must also be prescribed to protect the uterine lining.
- Not for use during pregnancy.
- This is a low dose — your clinician may adjust upward if symptoms are not well controlled.
Common side effects (usually improve within 3–6 months): Breast tenderness, bloating, irregular spotting.
