Early refills are generally not permitted under federal law. This applies to all MAT programs and cannot be waived.
Early refills are not approved for:
- Lost or stolen medication
- Taking more than your prescribed dose
- Travel (even if your refill date falls while you're away)
What you can do:
- Discuss travel plans with your clinician in advance — they may be able to adjust prescription timing
- Book your next visit a few days before your current supply runs out to avoid gaps
- Check with your pharmacy — many offer a 1–3 day grace period
