Are there other medications that can help with symptoms?

Withdrawal symptoms can be uncomfortable, but there are medications that can help manage specific symptoms while your body stabilizes. Your QuickMD clinician may recommend one or more of the following based on your situation. These are supportive treatments and do not replace your primary medication.

SymptomWhat may help
Nausea or vomitingOndansetron (Zofran) 4 to 8 mg as needed
DiarrheaLoperamide (Imodium) as directed — only take if you have significant diarrhea
Anxiety or agitationHydroxyzine (Vistaril) 25 to 50 mg up to 4 times daily
InsomniaTrazodone 50 to 100 mg or doxepin 10 to 50 mg at bedtime
High blood pressure or sweatingClonidine 0.1 mg every 8 hours — your clinician will advise if appropriate

Please consult your QuickMD clinician before starting any of these medications, as they may not be suitable for everyone. If you need immediate assistance, contact our Patient Support Team right away.
