Am I guaranteed to receive a prescription after my visit?

  • Updated

No. A prescription is never guaranteed as a result of a QuickMD visit, regardless of the visit type, your treatment history, or whether you have previously received a prescription through our platform.

In-person visits: Prescriptions are never issued at in-person visits. If you are an Alabama patient completing your required annual in-person visit, that appointment covers the state-mandated inspection and drug screen only. Your prescriptions continue to be handled through your telemedicine visits.

Telemedicine visits: All prescribing decisions are made at the sole discretion of your clinician, based on their clinical assessment of your needs during the visit. Even if a previous clinician prescribed a particular medication for you, a different clinician is not obligated to prescribe the same medication, the same dosage, or any medication at all.

This applies to all visit types, including:

  • Addiction treatment (MOUD/MAT) visits
  • Urgent care visits
  • Weight loss consultations
  • Hormone therapy visits
  • Any other service type offered through QuickMD

QuickMD clinicians follow the same standard of care as in-person providers and are bound by their medical and ethical obligations to prescribe only when it is safe and appropriate to do so. If a clinician determines that a prescription is not appropriate for you at a given visit, they will explain their reasoning and may recommend alternative next steps.

If you were not prescribed medication during a visit and you believe this was in error, or if you have concerns about the outcome of your visit, please contact Patient Support. Depending on the circumstances, a refund may be available in cases where no prescription or clinical service was provided. Please refer to our refund policy for details.
