In early treatment (first few weeks): Some patients notice changes in sleep patterns, including vivid dreams, difficulty falling or staying asleep, or lighter sleep. These effects are usually related to the opioid system's role in regulating sleep and improve as your body adjusts.
With longer-term use: Most patients report sleep normalizes significantly after 4–8 weeks. Many sleep better than they did during active use.
Tips for better sleep during early treatment:
- Take your dose in the morning if nighttime doses seem to affect sleep
- Maintain a consistent sleep schedule
- Limit caffeine after mid-afternoon
Sleep problems persisting beyond 2–3 months should be discussed at your next visit.
