Relapse is a risk in recovery — but it's not inevitable, and it doesn't mean failure.
- Stay on your medication: Suboxone significantly reduces relapse risk. Don't stop without talking to your clinician, even when feeling stable.
- Keep your visits and counseling: Regular check-ins are among the strongest predictors of long-term recovery success.
- Know your triggers: Identify situations, people, emotions, or environments that increase cravings. Awareness is the first step to management.
- Build a relapse prevention plan with your clinician — a specific action plan for what to do when things get hard.
- Have Narcan available: If relapse happens, having Narcan at home can save your life. Ask your clinician about a prescription — QuickMD can help.
- Use peer support: QuickMD's peer support groups meet Tuesdays, 7:30–8:30 PM EST.
- Be honest with your clinician: There is no judgment. We can only help if we know what's happening.
