Why is an in‑person visit required?
The state of Alabama requires all patients receiving Medication for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD) treatment specifically buprenorphine-naloxone (Suboxone)—via telemedicine to complete one in-person visit per year. This visit is a general inspection and includes a mandatory drug screen to ensure compliance with state regulations. This requirement cannot be fulfilled via video or phone.
Please note: No prescription is issued during an in-person visit. These visits exist solely to satisfy the state's annual inspection and drug screen requirement. All prescriptions continue to be issued through your regular telemedicine visits with your QuickMD clinician.
