Most side effects are mild and improve within 3–6 months as your body adjusts.
Estrogen-related:
- Breast tenderness
- Bloating or fluid retention
- Headaches
- Irregular vaginal spotting (especially in the first few months)
- Nausea (more common with oral tablets than patches or gels)
Progesterone-related:
- Mood changes or low mood
- Bloating
- Breast tenderness
- Drowsiness (especially with oral micronized progesterone — beneficial when taken at bedtime)
If side effects become disruptive, your clinician can lower your dose, switch your delivery method, or adjust timing. You don't have to push through them — contact your clinician or our Patient Support Team to request an earlier visit.
