The only controlled substances our providers are allowed to prescribe are buprenorphine and related medications (i.e. suboxone, subutex, Zubsolv, buprenorphine-naloxone). The following medications CANNOT be prescribed through QuickMD, even if they are refills of active medications prescribed in a traditional practice setting:
- Benzodiazepines (i.e. Xanex)
- Sleeping pills (i.e. Ambien)
- Opioids
- Accutane (Isotretinoin)
- Non-buprenorphine opioids (ie Methadone, morphine, oxycontin, vicodin)
- Gabapentin in the following states: AL, KY, MI, ND, TN, VA and WV
Some medications, while they are not controlled, are safest when prescribed after a complete in-person assessment and/or lab tests. QuickMD providers may not refill or prescribe non-controlled medications if they feel doing so could potentially harm the patient. If labs are necessary for the safe prescription or refilling of certain medications, QuickMD contacts our care team to coordinate lab testing.
To check with our care team if we can prescribe a certain medication please submit your request here.
